Tinker’s Story
From Foster Carer to Forever Home: Tinker’s Story
After my beloved old greyhound passed away, I knew I wanted to open my home to fostering—but I wanted to do it through a group that felt personal and supportive. That’s what drew me to Bridging the Gap (BTG), and from the moment I reached out, I was welcomed with open arms.
My first foster was Isaac, a sweet but slightly worried boy. The support I received throughout the experience was incredible—Angela was always available to answer my questions, and I loved that I could have a say in my fosters' forever homes. When Isaac found his perfect family, I immediately welcomed my next foster, the lovable rascal Ralph.
Ralph was so close to becoming a foster fail—the temptation was real! But in the end, we found him the perfect home, just like we did for Billy, who met his match through perfect timing at an adoption day. Then came Lemmy, a more challenging case, but with patience, we found him the right family too.
Then came Tinker.
Oh, Tinker. Within an hour, I knew he wasn’t leaving. Letting him go would have broken my heart. And so, after fostering so many wonderful greys, I finally made the leap from foster carer to adopter.
The adoption process was seamless, and while I sorted out the paperwork, the chilliest greyhound ever had already roached his way into my home and heart. Even now, BTG loves hearing updates about him, and I always send little photos after holidays.
One day, I know we’ll return to fostering. But for now, Tinker is home. ❤️
