Finding Donovan: A Smooth Journey to Adoption

Working with BTG has been one of the smoothest and most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. When I first considered fostering or adopting a greyhound, I kept an eye on their Facebook page, hoping to find the perfect match. Initially, I wasn’t sure fostering was for me, but after speaking with Angela, she introduced me to the "foster-to-adopt" option, which felt like the perfect balance.

Not long after that conversation, I came across a post about four greyhounds from the BTG TAFE program who were looking for their forever homes. One of them, Donovan, caught my eye immediately. I reached out straight away, and within a few hours, BTG had arranged a meet-and-greet at the TAFE.

The moment I saw him, I knew he was the one. He was full of excitement, his sweet nature shining through. That same day, we set up a home visit to see how he would settle in with my elderly father and our other greyhound, Sara. Donovan was instantly comfortable—he adored my dad, got along wonderfully with Sara, and fit right into our family. That moment sealed the decision to adopt him.

BTG made the process seamless. The paperwork was prepared quickly, and within just over a week, Donovan officially came home. Everything fell into place after that—just a week later, he passed his muzzle exemption (ME) test with flying colors!

Since then, Donovan and I have become part of the BTG community. We’ve volunteered at events like Dog Day in Mawson Lakes and other markets and expos, where he absolutely loves soaking up the attention.

BTG has been an incredible organization to work with—efficient, professional, and truly dedicated to finding the best homes for these amazing greyhounds. I couldn’t be happier with my experience, and I’m forever grateful for the journey that led Donovan to his forever home. ❤️🐾
